Nicolás has been involved in Azora’s hospitality investment team since January 2016, having participated in 22 acquisition deals, 2 divestment deals and the successful raise of Azora European Hotel & Lodging fund, totaling €815m equity, implying the largest final closing in a sector-focused in Europe’s history. Nicolás has two degrees, in Business Administration and Law, in ICADE in Madrid (Universidad Pontificia Comillas), and is currently studying History & Geography in UNED in Madrid. Azora is a leading independent investment and management platform of real assets, having invested in sectors such as hospitality, residential, offices, logistics, senior living, renewable energy or infrastructures. Founded in 2003, it has received €6.7bn of equity commitments from its institutional investors, currently with €9.2bn of AuM, counting with 280 professionals. Azora is one of the leading investors in hospitality in Europe, having committed an investment of approximately €2.7bn and acquired 87 hotels and c.24,500 room keys since 2014. Azora’s current hospitality fund (the “FCR”), raised in 2020, counts with €815m of capital commitments from a group of leading global investors, including pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, insurance companies and large global institutional investors, among others. The FCR is focused on investing in (i) the sun and beach and leisure segment in Europe’s top tourist destinations; and (ii) city tourism through lifestyle hostels. Currently, FCR’s portfolio is composed of 41 hotels and over 11,500 keys located across Portugal, Spain, Italy, Greece, Germany, and Belgium.
